Poker Hall Of Fame To Grow By Two
31 Oct 08

The Class of 2008 for the Poker Hall of Fame has been announced and both of the new members have extensive World Series of Poker experience.

Poker player Duane "Dewey" Tomko is the owner of three WSOP bracelets; has taken second-place at the WSOP's Main Event Final Table twice and has played in the Main Event for a record 35 straight years.

The second inductee has WSOP seasoning too with a bracelet as the 1996 World Series of Poker Seven-Card Stud champion and two money finishes in the WSOP's Main Event, including a Top 9 finish in 1995.

But Henry Orenstein's contributions to the poker industry go far beyond his performance at poker tournaments.

Orenstein is a noted inventor who holds patents for many toys and U.S. Patent 5,451,054—a patent for what is now known as the "Hole Card Cam," which many say was an important technological advancement for the television poker phenomenon.

Both Tomko and Orenstein will be inducted as part of the festivities for this year's WSOP Main Event Final Table at the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In order for one to qualify for the Hall, one must adhere to the following requirements, as stated in a release:

-A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition,

-played for high stakes,

-played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers,

-and stood the test of time.

Non-players who "contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results" qualify as well.
