Betting On The 2008 WSOPE
22 Sep 08

If bigger is better, then the 2008 edition of the World Series of Poker Europe should be great.

Last year's event consisted of three events, (1) the £2,500 World Championship H.O.R.S.E event (2) £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha and (3) £10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em Championship.

2008 will see the aforementioned three events plus a £1,500 NL Hold'em event to kick things off, which started Friday.

In last year's inaugural event, history was made as Norwegian player Annette Obrestad won the NL Texas Hold'em Championship event, taking home the big prize and becoming the youngest "main event" winner (she was 18 at the time) and she surpassed Annie Duke as the female who took home the most in a single event.

Can she do it again?

According to bodoglife.com she is listed at +700 to last the longest in the WSOPE Championship Event's final table in the gaming site's "Which Poker pro will last longer in the World Series Europe Main Event?" bet.

Big names like Johnny Chan (+600), Doyle and Todd Brunson (+700), Jennifer Harman-Traniello (+700), Phil Ivey (+500), Phil Hellmuth (+500) and Daniel Negreanu (+500) are also options.

When it comes to home field advantage (or would that be home felt advantage?), the Europeans are expected to capitalize as bodog thinks that a European will win the "main event" (-400) while an American winner will payout at +250.

The NL Texas Hold'em "main event" will begin on September 27, 2008 and run for five days.
