Consumer's Guide to Poker, PART 3
"We learned in the last two articles how to evaluate what it costs to play poker in a public card room. Here are some other considerations for determining how consumer- friendly a poker room is.

Smaller hands mean smaller pots which means that it is more likely that the maximum percentage will be charged. Washington Stretches Its Tentacles
"In an article in the Seattle Times by Danny Westneat on June 17th, it is reported that a poker information site has come under fire from the state. The site, called Integrity Casino Guide, is basically an information site for other Internet users which culls different information on the poker rooms on the Web and offers other pertinent details. The owner of the site, Todd Boutte, was concerned about the new law but, since he wasn't taking any wagers on his site, figured that all would be OK.
In a chilling sequence that could be compared to an Orwellian scenario from '1984', the state has said that he is still in violation of the new law in Washington. Because the site contains advertisements, links and information about poker rooms, it is viewed in the same manner as the offshore sites themselves."

The Origin of Poker
"Let us go back in time, before there was a game called Texas Hold'em, or even before there was a game called poker.
While it is commonly believed that poker was created about the same time that Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden, or even that playing poker in the Garden of Eden was the actual reason for them leaving, despite what other sources may say about apples or snakes, the actual appearance of playing cards occurred around 1377."

Countdown To The WSOP: Going Global
"While it may seem commonplace now, the World Series of Poker wasn't always the worldwide event that it is today. In the early years of the event, it was thoroughly dominated by Americans. Over the years, however, this has changed radically.
The first international blood to break into the tournament was in 1976, when Jesse Alto (Mexico) was the runner up to Doyle Brunson in the final 'winner takes all' Championship Event."
