Big Slick, Playing It Right
"Ace King ... It's monster hand and you plan to get as much money out of everyone as you can.
Big Slick is called Big Slick for a reason. Yes its a monster drawing hand but it is a drawing hand all the same.
IF you hit either an Ace or a King on the flop then you've got yourself top pair with the best kicker. You might get lucky as is connected to get the nuts straight, if its suited you have got the table crippled if you draw that flush. It's worth noting A-K suited is 5th best starting hand but A-K off is 9th best.
But this is the thing - when you haven't seen any cards what have you got really ? An Ace high ... with a King kicker, just about any starting hand could beat it."

Maximizing Your Winnings With A Strong Bluff
"Most poker players, regardless of their experience level, know about bluffing when they’re holding nothing. Fewer understand the power of bluffing when they’ve got a terrific hand. The idea is to keep opponents in the hand (and putting chips in the pot) for as many rounds as possible.
A lot of novice poker players get so excited when they realize they’re holding a great hand - 3-of-a-kind, a full house, straight, flush, or better – that they get ahead of themselves in their zeal to win that hand. Keeping your emotions in check is the first goal. Don’t give your opponents any indication that you’re holding a hand you’ve waited for all night."

Small blind play can lead to big mistakes
"Poker is a game in which danger lurks around every corner, and one of the game's more devious aspects is the temptation to enter too many hands from the small blind.
The small blind has a lot of attractive aspects:
You already have an investment in the pot, so you get a discounted rate to see the flop given there were no raises ahead of you. ... If the action folds around to you, there is a reasonable chance to steal the big blind with a raise.
But these aspects can get you into serious trouble, and a leak in this portion of your game can bring danger."

Picking Your Addictions

WA Makes It a Felony to Play Poker Online
By I. Nelson Rose, 28 May 2006
As of June 7, it is now a felony in the state of Washington to play poker on the Internet.
The bill, S.S.B. No. 6613, has stirred up great anxiety in poker forums. Many feel, correctly, that they have been blind-sided. I searched the databases of Washington newspapers and could find almost nothing written about the law as it was making its way through the Legislature. In fact, when the Seattle Times published an article about bills to make Internet gambling a crime, it only mentioned proposals pending in Congress.

Bill to Ban Gambling Online Gets 4th Chance
By Frank Ahrens, Washington Post Staff Writer
Today, the House Judiciary Committee will mark up a bill introduced by Rep. Robert W. Goodlatte (R) that would ban much online gambling, including bets on sporting events and games of chance -- namely poker, which has enjoyed a boom in recent years.
The legislation could get an unexpected boost from the Jack Abramoff scandal. The disgraced lobbyist was key to blocking one of Goodlatte's three previous attempts to ban Internet gambling, and backlash over corruption charges could help the current effort.
